AMBER ALERT ISSUED FOR BABY GIRL AFTER MOTHER'S STABBING DEATH
A frantic search is underway for a baby who turned up missing after a woman was found dead in the Greenspoint area Tuesday afternoon.
Police are looking for 11-month-old Shanally Flores who is believed to be with her father, Thomas Bernardez.
Officials say Shanally is 30 inches long and 20 pounds, is believed to be Honduran and possibly of black or mixed race origin. They describe Bernardez as a black, Honduran male who is a possible suspect in the stabbing death of Shanally's mother, identified as Carolina Flores.
Bernardez is believed to be driving a 2000 Blue Toyota Celica with a black hood and Texas license plate CM7-L340.
Anyone with information on Shanally's whereabouts, the suspect or his vehicle is urged to contact the Houston Police Department at (713)-308-3600.
Homicide detectives say the woman was stabbed several times. She and the baby girl lived in an apartment complex on Goodson Road in northeast Houston, according to police. Residents say crime is an ongoing problem there.
A neighbor, who says she is the victim's best friend, told KHOU 11 News the victim's nephew discovered her body.
